It seemed like days had passed by the time the sun began to shine down on the burned out ruins. Hundreds were dead and wounded. Inmates were still loose. It would be some time before they were all caught. Batman was very patient and stubborn. All of them would be recaptured. They better enjoy their freedom while they can.
Firs were still burning in parts of the asylum. The surviving patients and staff were out of the building and the only ones allowed within were authorized personal. And Batman. Maximum security had remained in lock down when the other blocks were opened by the explosion. It had been no accident that the Joker and Riddler escaped. Someone specifically let them out. On this day, in this way, that was no coincidence. This was all a message to him. When all was done the masked vigilante was sure the crime scene photos would match those of Jason's murder.
There were others in the basement already when the vigilante made his way there. If his suspicions were correct he knew where the explosions had started. He was soon at the remains of the room. The old memories were still fresh and now stood in the present. Whoever that started this had studied the murder enough to get everything the same. One detail was left unknown. It was a sight he didn't want to confirm, but he knew he had to. If there was a body it needed to be uncovered.
"I need you over here." He called to one of the crime scene techs without turning to face the woman. There was no hurry to uncover the rubble. There would be no one to rescue. Just a body. Last time he had moved evidence trying to get to Jason in time. He had foresight this time to keep that from happening.
The woman and her camera came to his side and Batman pointed out where he wanted her to shoot. "Take pictures of this area. I need to get something beneath it."
The tech took her pictures and continued as Batman moved forward into the rubble. He moved what he needed to while the camera continued snapping photos to document it. Moving the rubble revealed no body, and no bones. All that was there was a burned and stained with old blood red hood.
Batman stood without moving as he looked down at it. It looked just like the one that had been placed over Jason's head. The woman moved forward getting the pictures of it she needed.
"I need to talk to Commissioner Gordon. Can you please fine him?" Batman knelt down picking up the hood carefully in his gloved hands. The woman hurried off to do what he asked.Jim Gordon
